Before buying a share please become
familiar with what a CSA is and read all
about our CSA on this website.
What's a share? A CSA share is what we can harvest and put into a 3/4 bushel box. A 3/4 bushel of veggies
should generally be enough for a family of 4 depending on how much of your diet is vegetables cooked at
home. We plan to have enough to fill the boxes and take the surplus to market but sometimes boxes do not get
filled and nothing is left for market. We fill boxes before thinking of going to market with produce. The share
price is based on having a little less than a 1/2 box of produce. So; empty box = bad deal, 1/2 box = break
even, full box = great deal. The estimated value of the box uses farmer's market prices and does not include
whatever value 'fresh picked' and 'locally grown' have. It also does not reflect any value 'knowing the farmer'
or 'visiting the farm' or 'being part of a community' might have.
